27 Essential Bible Verses About Changing Seasons In Your Life

Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each year, the seasons change in this same way. There are bible verses about changing seasons, the first is in Genesis after the flood. God added this to His promise for Noah, “As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.” (Genesis 8:22)

Our lives go through seasons of change as well. Some changes are exciting, but others fill us with sadness and dread. No matter what season of life you are in right now, it’s important to remember that God is with you no matter what.

The Old and New Testaments contain several Bible verses about the changing seasons. Some verses discuss how God controls the weather, but others discuss how our life changes like the seasons.

You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set.

Psalm 104:19

God is the creator and sustainer of our world. He set up the sun and moon in the heavens to mark the days and seasons. The entire chapter 104 in Psalms reminds us of His sovereignty and goodness. If He can create the cosmos and keep it working for thousands and thousands of years, won’t He also take care of you?

“…but he never left them without evidence of himself and his goodness. For instance, he sends you rain and good crops and gives you food and joyful hearts.”

Acts 14:17

The changing of the seasons is not just to give us good food and enrich our lives with blessings. Yes, God does give us blessings through rain and a bountiful harvest in the fall. He designed our earth with seasons of planting, growth, and harvest to provide for us year after year.

But that’s not the only reason for the seasons changing. In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas are teaching about the evidence nature gives to the existence of God. These blessings are for our benefit and point to the one true God.

How Does Our Life Change Like the Seasons?

Every three months there is a new season on the earth. Even if you live in a place where the weather doesn’t change as much, there will still be some changes. There are rainy seasons, dry seasons, hotter and colder seasons. Our earth is designed to change. Our lives are designed to change like the seasons, too.

For everything there is a season,

a time for every activity under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die.

A time to plant and a time to harvest.

A time to kill and a time to heal.

A time to tear down and a time to build up.

A time to cry and a time to laugh.

A time to grieve and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.

A time to embrace and a time to turn away.

A time to search and a time to quit searching.

A time to keep and a time to throw away.

A time to tear and a time to mend.

A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

A time to love and a time to hate.

A time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

These verses from Ecclesiastes relate the entire human experience to the changing of the seasons. No matter what season you are in life, it will soon change. We grow older, and so do the people around us. Our kids grow up and move into new phases of life.

Our jobs will change, our friends will change, and our families will change. Every aspect of our life changes as we go through it. The only constant we can count on is the one who created it.

Bible Verses About Changing Seasons
Scripture reminds us of how the seasons change, but God doesn’t.

Bible Verses About Seasons

Change is difficult, especially when you’re not in control. If you’re a mother like me, you can tend to be a little bit of a control freak. That’s why I have to practice giving control over to God every single day. Bible verses about changing seasons, and how God controls them, help me stay calm and remember that He’s got this!

He changes times and seasons;

he deposes kings and raises up others.

He gives wisdom to the wise

and knowledge to the discerning.

Daniel 2:21

The book of Daniel reminds us repeatedly that God’s in control of the earth. This verse makes it very clear who’s in charge of changing the seasons. Not only that, but it reminds us that God is also the one who decides who will be in leadership on earth as well.

This is a great reminder for me because I like to think that I’m in control of my house and my life. I also need to remember that God has given me whatever control I do have and the ultimate control is His.

This is extremely important for anyone who lives in political unrest or turmoil. I live in the United States, and our election season is starting to ramp up. If I don’t check my heart, I can find myself putting too much emphasis on worldly rulers, forgetting that God is the ultimate ruler. I need to use the wisdom He’s given me and remember that!

‘He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.”’

Acts 1:7

You see, God has the authority! He sets up the seasons, puts rulers in authority, and brings them back down if needed. He gives clear examples in the seasons that the control belongs to Him alone.

This is the theme of the Bible, over and over again. God is God, and we are not. He has created all things and is over all things. He also knows all things, the beginning and end of all times, and makes the seasons change, so who are we to question His judgment on such things?

I know this to be true, but learning and sticking to it can be difficult for me. Being human, I struggle to understand the magnitude of what God has the authority to do. Until I make it to heaven, I think I will struggle with it. I’m also a little bit of a control freak. I want to be in charge of all the things. Letting go and letting God, even though I know He’s got it so, so much better then I ever could have, is still so hard for me at times!

Bible Verses About Change

What if you’re going through different seasons right now? Your season might be one you’ve anticipated for a while, but it’s still a change. And change is hard, no matter what.

Maybe life isn’t how you thought it would turn out. Maybe your career isn’t where you thought it would be. Perhaps your marriage is struggling. You might be dealing with one health issue after another. Whatever your struggle, God is there with you. He knows your heart and hears your needs. He can make good come out of difficult circumstances.

For I am about to do something new.

See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?

I will make a pathway through the wilderness.

I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

Isaiah 43:19

Even when seasons change, God is still working. He can make things work like we could never even imagine! If He can, “create rivers in the dry wasteland,” He will be with you through any situation.

For the mountains may move

and the hills disappear,

but even then my faithful love for you will remain.

My covenant of blessing will never be broken,”

says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

Isaiah 54:10

Isaiah 54 reminds us that God will never break His promises, no matter what changes happen in our lives. He promises always to bless and always have mercy on us. He will never leave us, as long as we continue to trust Him.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone.

Revelations 21:1

The book of Revelation is full of some crazy stuff! A lot of it doesn’t make much sense, and won’t until we pass on from this earth. This verse in chapter 21 describes the new heaven and earth that will be here after this one is long gone. This part kind of freaks me out (just a little), but knowing that God knows about it, knew about it thousands of years ago, and has it all under control makes me feel better!

Bible Verses About Changing Seasons of Our Lives

What season of life are you in right now? Are you fresh out of college, hoping to start your career and family? Maybe you’re down knee-deep with the kids, the spouse, and the job all tugging at your time and you feel stretched to the breaking point.

Maybe you are at that empty nest phase, with no kids and much more time on your hands, but the house seems way too quiet now. Or maybe you’ve recently retired, or become unemployed some other way, and you have absolutely no idea what to do with this next phase of your life. I’ve been there many times before.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

You might not be able to see it right now, but God has a plan for your life. Each day is a new day, and you can have hope for a better future. You just have to trust that He knows the plan for you and to follow Him.

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

Psalm 32:8

This verse in Psalms 32 reminds us that God will guide us along our best path in life. So much of my life has been spent trying to find my best path on my terms. Whenever I do that, I’m bound to fail. But I keep doing it, over and over again.

But when I remember to submit my plans to the Lord, to give it to Him first, things go so much better than they would have if I were leading! God’s ways aren’t our ways, but they will always be better than our ways.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek his will in all you do,

and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6

The good news is that God knows where you are and He knows where you are going. He has a plan for your life. We may not be able to see the finish line. We probably can’t even see a few steps in front of us. But knowing that God’s got it, and He will show us the right path if we ask, is a comfort!

Bible Verses About Hard Seasons

This life has plenty of good times, and even some great times sprinkled into it. But it’s also full of tragedy, heartache, and sorrow. We live in a fallen world. Until we make it to the loving arms of Jesus, we will have to endure heartache. These Bible verses about hard seasons can bring comfort and hope during the seasons of change that we struggle with in this life.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Philippians 4:6

Like most moms, my prayer list is full of worries and fears. I have worried for my husband and children. I’ve worried about my job, about paying the bills, and even just wondering if I’ll ever get it. All. Done. The season of life you are in might be one of constant worry and struggle. And when you think it’s getting better, the new season might be even more difficult! Sometimes, it never ends!

But God reminds us time and time again not to worry about these things. We’re supposed to stop worrying and,”…instead, PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING….” It’s a struggle, but that’s why daily prayer time is so important. Through this daily prayer practice, we can work on giving our worries over to God.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Galatians 6:9

You might be overwhelmed, exhausted, and weary from everything you have going on right now. Life can be like that more often than not. You might even feel like quitting.

At these times, it’s important to remember who we are serving, and why we do what we do. We do these good things to serve Christ, and to lead others to Him as well. If we’re exhausted, we can call out to God for help. Then, it’s important to remember that we have to keep going!

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.

1 Peter 1:6

Being glad in your trials doesn’t make sense, especially when you’re going through it. When I was going through cancer surgery and treatments, I don’t remember being “glad” at the time. I actually remember just trying to get through each day, by the grace of God. I did thank God for the many blessings in my life, but I didn’t think of being sick as a blessing at that time.

Looking back, I can definitely see how God poured out His blessings on me and my family during that hard season of our lives. We had friends and family who stepped up over and over to help with taking care of the kids. I had a cancer insurance policy that helped make up for lost income. The entire ordeal gave me the inspiration to start this blog. And the list continues.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28

Sometimes we may not see these blessings He promises in this lifetime. We may see how God works everything for our good a few years down the road, or we may not know on this side of heaven. Either way, He is still faithful. He is still working on good things for your life. Romans 8 is full of Bible verses about changing seasons, and not giving up no matter how difficult life becomes.

Bible Verses About Changing Seasons

Seasons Change But God Remains the Same

The world has been changing since it began. Each year there are four different seasons, and then the cycle begins again. Even though the world continues to change, God remains the same. He never changes, and will always be there for those who are His children. These Bible verses about changing seasons are shared so you can remember things change, but God always stays the same.

The faithful love of the Lord never ends!

His mercies never cease.

Great is his faithfulness;

his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!” I’m so thankful that His love never ends for me. No matter how much grace and understanding I need, He’s willing and able to give it. He is merciful and just, even when I don’t deserve it. Even if the only thing He ever did for me give me eternal salvation, that would be more than I ever deserve. But still, He keeps giving to me.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

God’s love for us never ends. The greatest way He showed that love for us was through the sacrifice of Jesus willingly going to the cross for our sins. Jesus, being a part of God, also never changes. He continues to be the same, loving us and saving every single person who puts their faith and trust in Him.

Friends, people will fail you. Even your best friend will let you down at some point. Even you will let yourself down. But Jesus Christ will never let you down. He never has, and never will. If you will put your faith and trust in him.

These 27 verses about changing seasons were meant to not only remind us of how temporary this world is but to remind us of how enduring God is and will always be. Even when our circumstances aren’t good, God is good. He will never fail us or leave us. We can always lean on His comfort and strength.
